Sovinjak, ein Dorf 8 km südwestlich von Buzet, liegt in den Hügeln oberhalb des Mittellaufs der Mirna und wird von den umliegenden Weilern Bračani, Brnozi, Jermacije, Majeri sowie den Siedlungen Pročana, Sirotići, Sovinjsko Polje und Sovinjsko Brdo angezogen. Die Besitzer der 1195 erwähnten Feudalburg waren Vasallen der Patriarchen von Aquileia, später wurde das Anwesen Teil des Fürstentums Pazin. Neben der von einer Stadtmauer umgebenen Burg entwickelte sich eine ländliche Siedlung. Von der weltlichen Architektur stechen der Getreidespeicher aus dem Jahr 1647 mit einem steinernen Kruzifixrelief an der Fassade sowie mehrere erhaltene barocke und klassizistische Wohnhäuser und Paläste hervor. In Sovinjsko Polje befindet sich die kleine Kirche des Heiligen Stephan und in Sovinjsko Brdo die Kirche der Heiligen Helena.
