Vom nahen Ort Gornji Karin trennt ihn nur der Fluß Karišnica, welcher der gleichnamigen Höhle entspringt und nur 2,4 km entfernt von der Mündung des Flußes Zrmanja liegt, in deren Nähe man Heilschlamm vorfindet, welcher bei Rheuma und Hauterkrankungen hilfreich ist.
In einer angenehmen Atmosphäre und in wahrer Natur hat man von Donji Karin aus einen wunderschönen Ausblick auf das Bergmassiv des Velebit und die Schlucht des Flusses Zrmanja. Direkt daneben befindet sich ein Franziskanerkloster aus dem Mittelalter.
